| Patterns for Crocheted Premie Baby Cap and Booties
All rows are worked in back loop only (BLO) of each stitch to create ribbing for stretch.
Using size F hook and baby yarn, ch. 35.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (34 sc).
Row 2: sc in BLO of first 27 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 3: sc in BLO of each st across. Ch 1, turn (27 sc).
Row 4: sc in BLO across including last 7 sts skipped in row 2. Ch 1, turn (34 sc).
Repeat these 4 rows 14 times (total of 56 rows).
Cut yarn leaving a 36" tail. Using a tapestry needle, weave yarn through the end stitch of every row along the short row side, pull thread tightly and whipstitch to secure the top of the cap crown. Hold wrong side of row 1 and right side of row 56 together, sl st with crochet hook, or use tapestry needle and go through the BLO of row 56, matching the 34 corresponding sts. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Leg: Ch 15. (all rows are worked in BLO).
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook, sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (14 sc).
Row 2-20: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (14 sts). At the end of row 20, do not fasten off.
Instep: With 2 yards of new yarn, join in end st of 8th row of leg.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining sc and in end st of next 4 rows. Ch 1, turn (5 sts).
Row 2-7: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (5 sts). Fasten off.
Foot: Pick up working yarn on the leg. Sc in end of st of next 8 rows of leg. Sc in end st of next 7 rows of instep. Sc in BLO next 5 sc. Sc in end st of next 7 rows of instep. Sc in end st of next 8 rows of leg. Ch 1, turn (35 sts).
Rows 2-7: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn (35 sts).
Row 8: Sk first st, sc in next 14 sts, (sk 1 st, sc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 12 sts, sk 1 st, sl st in last st. Ch 1, turn (29sts).
Row 9: Sk first st, sc in next 11 sts (sk 1 st, sc in next st) 3 times, sc in next 10 sts, sk 1 st, sl st in last st. Cha 1, turn (24 sts).
Row 10: Sk first st, sc in next 12 sts. With right sides facing, sl st corresponding sts of bottom edges together.
Whip stitch remaining portion of the foot and leg. Fasten off. Weave in the ends. |
